For more info visit www.HelloSaxophone.com The first thing to do is to put the mouthpiece up against the upper front teeth in your mouth. Put your upper teeth about halfway on top of the mouthpiece (see the picture below). Its important that you dont push your teeth on the sax! but to push the sax up against your teeth! You do this by pushing the sax forward very slightly with your left thumb and by making sure the length of the neck strap is right. Let the horn rest comfortably against your belly. When you have the mouthpiece in your mouth, push the top of the saxophone away from you gently with your left thumb. You will feel some pressure on your upper teeth. The saxophone becomes sort of stuck between your thumbs and your upper teeth. This will leave your lower jaw completely free so you can breathe in easily without the sax bumbling about in your mouth. This also allows you to control the vibrations of the reed very precisely. Put your lower lip against the reed (make sure your lower teeth dont touch the reed). Curl your lower lip a little like you would if you were biting your lip or trying to say the B in the word baby very clearly so it becomes like a cushion between your lower teeth and the reed. I've always wanted to learn to play guitar?
I’m 16 and always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I previously took piano lessons when I was 13, quit ( Piano isn’t my cup of tea ), and I think I might want to try taking guitar lessons. How difficult is it to start learning guitar compared to other instruments if you have a teacher? I played the saxaphone back in 5th-8th grade for the school band, but I never was that great at it. I want to learn to play the sax- need advice!?
I am interested in learning to play the saxaphone. Want to buy an instrument for 0 or less. I have found some used student selmer bundys (which I have come to find out is the best brand) for about that on ebay. Should I start with alto or tener? any other brands besides selmer &yamaha that can you recommend that are relatively cheap?(under 300) Any advice on how to teach myself- I want to take some lessons down the road but for now I think I just want to play around a bit. Any Dvd’s or books you can reccommend? Thanks!
How to learn to play the saxophone in less than 5 minutes…
We got Logan his saxophone this week for 5th grade band. We took it up to grandpa Weatherford’s so he could check it out for him. I knew it was in good shape, but I wanted him to check it out since he plays the sax. He confirmed with us that it is a very nice instrument, in good shape, and that it would make him a very nice instrument. He showed him a couple little tips, but not so much that it would cause any trouble for him when he starts taking lessons in a couple of weeks. Band instructors can be kind of touchy about that, you know. He did a real nice job, and dad looked proud too. We had a nice time.
